Welcome St. Mark Families!
My name is Amanda Waggoner, and I am so excited and honored to be the new art teacher here at St. Mark Catholic Classical School. I loved art class in elementary school, and took as many art electives as possible in highschool, trying all sorts of mediums. For college I studied scenic design and painting for theatre at UNC School of the Arts, a conservatory style school. In that program I learned not only about art, architecture, and furniture design throughout history, but also how to continue learning and researching. I also leaned how to combine historic design ideas with elements of mood, characters, and the message of the play to create a cohesive and meaningful set. I took a summer assisting my aunt in her pottery studio, and spent many summers working with a community theatre group in Anchorage, AK that ran amazing summer camps. Youth theatre is my favorite.
Now I look forward to opening up the world of art to your children in new ways as we explore the elements of art and become better familiar with the foundations, and build on them throughout the year learning about artists, art movements, and art materials of the time in history they are also studying in their main classrooms.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I want this year to help bring greater interest and eagerness to explore the depths of a creative life! After all, we are made in the image and likeness of the Devine Creator, Himself!
